25 years ago, on the night of July 2 to 3, Lev Rokhlin, the main opposition leader, General, State Duma deputy, was killed in his own house near Moscow. Details at Rucriminal.info.
On a rainy July night in 1998, two bright Niva drove out of the Moscow Evenings departmental rest house of the FSB of Russia. In addition to the drivers, there were passengers in the cars, the whole company headed towards the village of Klokovo, which is two kilometers from the GBash boarding house. Driving along a country road and not attracting attention to themselves, two Niva 10 minutes later stopped near a two-story cottage made of sand-lime brick, the passengers quickly headed for the house, the door of which was opened for them by Rokhlin's personal security guard.
In the house, the situation developed rapidly. A group of militants who arrived in two cars tied up Lev Rokhlin's wife, Tamara Pavlovna, and her then 14-year-old son Igor, who had been disabled since birth due to meningitis. Rokhlin himself was in the bedroom at that moment and, according to one version, was fast asleep, after drinking tea, in which his bodyguard, recruited earlier by a group of attackers, dissolved sleeping pills.
After that, the three killers, together with Lev Rokhlin's wife, went up to the second floor, where they fired a fatal shot.
Rokhlin was killed by a shot at the so-called sniper's point in the temporal bone from his own PSM pistol. With one shot.
There were also shots fired on the first floor that night, someone was shooting at the wall in the large room, and judging by the height of the remaining marks from the bullets, shots were fired over the head of the disabled son of Lev Yakovlevich, apparently this was how pressure was put on the general’s wife so that she completely took the blame for killing her husband.
The most curious thing is that everything that happens that night in the Rokhlins' house was carefully and cynically filmed by the murderers who arrived on a domestic video camera. Apparently for a report to customers.
After that, the group in two cars, leaving their wife and son and a security guard in the house, set off towards the Kyiv highway. Four of the militants that were at the Rokhlins' house that night never made it to the highway. Their charred corpses will be found a few hours later in the forest not far from Rokhlin's dacha. The arriving operational-investigative group of investigators from the Prosecutor General's Office and the regional criminal investigation department immediately takes as a basis the only version of what happened - the killer of the hero of the Afghan and Chechen companies, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense and head of the movement in support of the army, defense industry and military science, his own wife. Like, Tamara Pavlovna could not stand the humiliation that she endured all her life together with her husband, cold-bloodedly took his personal weapon and, like an experienced killer - a sniper, put an end to her husband's life with one shot.
We will not describe here how the trial of Tamara Pavlovna took place, the result of it after a few years of her being essentially justified, the case was put on the brakes and everything ended with a suspended sentence, leaving many mysteries in this fateful story for our country.
It is curious, but immediately after the events of the July night of 1998, the director of "Podmoskovnye Evenings", a rest home of the FSB of Russia, was quickly transferred to the position of director of another subordinate FSB boarding house - "Moskvich" and then his traces are lost. For some reason, the investigation did not check the version about a group of comrades who lived in a secret house on the territory of "Moscow Evenings" for more than a month and after the fateful night they no longer appeared in the rest house. The investigation did not become interested in the events that took place on the eve of July 3 in the vicinity of the village of Klokovo. Then the guards of one of the cottages adjacent to Rokhlin recorded the movement of strange groups, under various legends, the area around the Rokhlins' house was actively resurfaced, a new district police officer appeared, carefully clarifying the routine of the Rokhlins' neighbors. A lot was written about the observation of the general’s dacha from the side of the forest, but the operational installation inside the village somehow remained without attention. After the murder, the traces of the new district policeman deteriorated, the old commissioner was surprised to learn about his "resignation", but these facts were ignored by the investigation.
One of the shabashniks spoke about people who, on the eve of the murder, moved around the village, told and carefully described the uninvited guests of those July days in the village of Klokovo, when it was necessary to shift his testimony into a procedural framework, the poor fellow was sewn with a scalded face in boiling water and after his traces disappeared. Another casual witness of that night, who told about the smoking remains not far from the general's house, was later found with a broken neck in his own bathhouse. The case was written off as an accident. And by the way, such strange deaths in baths due to falls from the shelves were typical for the Leningrad region of that period, for some reason, many ill-wishers of the future president of Russia and people from his team ended their lives in such a strange way.
